Montessori Class

The Montessori Method of education, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children from birth to adulthood.

Dr. Montessori’s Method has been time tested, with over 100 years of success in diverse cultures throughout the world.

It is a view of the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child—physical, social, emotional, cognitive.

The materials are specially designed to capture the child's interests and desire to learn. The materials are colourful, various and easy to handle which are at the child's level. Each piece of equipment has a unique purpose to help the child develop their skills to reach their developmental milestones. The child will learn to focus and concentrate while working with the materials over a period of time. This process occurs through repetition which captivates the childs attention.

The environment has been planned to give the child the freedom of choice around the classroom but within the structure of Montessori. As well as Montessori work the class provides a wide range of activities such as, art, playdough, clay, drama and singing throughout the day.

Each day the children will discuss the topic of the month bringing new ideas, opinions and personal experience to it. We will document this by using photographs, books, art materials and props which will become a class project which later will be displayed on the wall for the parents to see.

We give preference to our existing children coming from our Pre-School Class and we try to accommodate all ECCE Scheme (Free School Year) students in our Montessori School. To esnre your space it is often avisable to contact well in advance.
